![]() ![]() ![]() |
You can search for courses in the catalog and view the course details, course outcomes (if defined), programs (if the course is included in a program) and course sections (if defined).
Click the Details tab to view course information from the catalog.
Click the Outcomes tab to view any Course [C] outcomes (if defined), plus any linked GenEd [G], External [E] or Program [P] outcomes.
These links determine which outcomes will display to the teaching faculty as mapped in the Xitracs Portal. (Courses > Assessment).
In the Outcomes tab view you can create a list of mapped GenEd [G] and Program [P] outcomes (if defined) by clicking the Add link function. (Direct mapping).
If Course outcomes have been defined, these can be linked to GenEd and/or Program outcomes by clicking the Map function. Click the Methods link to set scoring methods and thresholds for course outcomes.
If the course is included as a core course in more than one program, you must first select the program where you want to create any course outcome to program outcome links. For a core course, you can add one or more GenEd outcomes to the map. Check the cell(s) to map a course outcome to a program or GenEd outcome.
If you are mapping course outcomes, take care not to duplicate outcome reporting links.
For example, if Course Outcome A is mapped to GenEd Outcome C, there should be no need to link the entire course to GenEd Outcome C (see Direct course to outcome mapping above).
Click the Programs tab to view a list of programs where the course is included. Click on the Outcome map link to see where outcomes are assessed in the program.
Click the Sections tab to view any course sections for the current semester. Click the Show prior semesters link to view earlier sections.
In this view, click the Assessment link to view the summary assessment data (if available) for a course section.
If you system has been configured to provide the Assessment Required* function, you will be able to set which course sections are assessed in a specific semester. Click the Yes or No link to toggle the required setting.**
A separate column displays the current status of the assessment, Incomplete or Complete. While this status can be changed in this view by clicking on the status link, it is normally set by the teaching faculty member via the Xitracs Portal.
You can also control the display options in the Portal. See Control Panel > Portal > User Settings. This determines whether only sections requiring assessment are displayed.
*Contact Xitracs Support to have this function enabled.
**These settings can also be imported. Refer to the Xitracs Data Import Guide.
•Aggregate score counts - the count of students at each threshold level (e.g. met, exceeded, not met) can be input.
•Alignment with LMS Gradebook column - the outcome can be aligned with a gradebook column in the LMS and student scored pulled
•Direct entry of student scores - the score for each student in the course can be input.
•Rubric linked to the outcome - each student in the course can be scored using the rubric associated with the outcome.
•Teaching faculty can set - the teaching faculty member can select from one of the available methods.
1.Select an available method or leave the default setting
The Rubric method will not be available if there is no rubric associated with the outcome.
2.Check the M-Lock parameter to prevent faculty from changing the method
The M-Lock parameter will be ignored if the method set is 'Teaching faculty can set'.
3.Enter a threshold level for each level
If the method selected is 'Rubric', a threshold cannot exceed the maximum score generated by the rubric.
4.Check the T-Lock parameter to prevent faculty from changing the thresholds
The T-Lock parameter will be ignored if:
a.The method has not also been locked (see above)
b.One or more thresholds is set to zero or is blank
c.The method set is 'Aggregate score counts' or 'Teaching faculty can set'
These method and threshold settings can also be imported. See Control Panel >
