Outcomes Scoring Methods

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Depending on features licensed and availability settings, the methods for assessing an outcome in-course are:

Aggregate score counts - the count of students at each threshold level (e.g. met, exceeded, not met) can be input.

Alignment with LMS Gradebook column - the outcome can be aligned with a gradebook column in the LMS and student scored pulled

Direct entry of student scores - the score for each student in the course can be input.

Rubric linked to the outcome - each student in the course can be scored using the rubric associated with the outcome.

Teaching faculty can set - the teaching faculty member can select from one of the available methods.

Not scored in this semester - the outcome is not assessed in the current semester.

1.Select an available method or leave the default setting

The Rubric method will not be available if there is no rubric associated with the outcome.

2.Check the M-Lock parameter to prevent faculty from changing the method

The M-Lock parameter will be ignored if the method set is 'Teaching faculty can set'.

3.Enter a threshold level for each level

If the method selected is 'Rubric', a threshold cannot exceed the maximum score generated by the rubric.

4.Check the T-Lock parameter to prevent faculty from changing the thresholds

The T-Lock parameter will be ignored if:

a.The method has not also been locked (see above)

b.One or more thresholds is set to zero or is blank

c.The method set is 'Aggregate score counts' or 'Teaching faculty can set'

The label for each threshold (e.g. met, exceeded) is set when the assessment module is installed.
